Narrow-gauge railways by country

Narrow-gauge railway is a railway with a track gauge narrower than 1,435 mm.  The list of narrow-gauge railways includes mainly tourist railways and children’s railways. Railway network in some countries was built with a track gauge of 600, 750 mm and 1000 mm –  I did not include these railways. I will prepare separate articles about miniature railways in the future.

The list is not complete. It is impossible to keep up-to-date information about all narrow-gauge railways in the world, so information may be outdated.

Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, New Zealand, South Africa, and the Australian states of Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania have 1,067 mm railway network.

Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand have metre-gauge railways.

Narrow-gauge mountain railways are common in United States and Canada.
