Esbjerg train station

Esbjerg train station is one of the most beautiful railway stations in Europe and one of the most important railway junctions in Denmark. It serves regional and long-distance trains operated by DSB and GoCollective (formerly Arriva).

The station building was opened in October 1874. The present building designed by Heinrich Wenck, was completed in 1904. The building has three-storey towers flanking the central gable. In terms of architecture it reflects a mixture of Historicist styles, some inspired by Dutch Renaissance architecture. The entrance hall with its timbered finish is reminiscent of Tyrolean designs. The building is in excellent condition after recent restoration. The building was completed the same year as Copenhagen Central Station.

Esbjerg is not as beautiful as many cities in Denmark. Tthe fifth-largest city in Denmark and serves as a major port and industrial hub is located on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in Denmark. Esbjerg was establish in 1868 as a replacement for Altona, which Denmark lost to Germany and second-largest harbour in the country.
