Aarhus train station

Aarhus train station or rather Aarhus Central Station, is the main railway station in Aarhus, Denmark. It is one of the most important railway junctions in the country. The station serves regional, long-distance and international trains to Hamburg. It is the busiest station in Denmark outside the Copenhagen area. It was built as a through station. The station is connected with a three-storey shopping centre (Bruun’s Galleri) housing more than 90 stores.

The first railway station building in Aarhus was opened on 2 September 1862 along with the opening of the line from Aarhus to Randers. The second station building built in Neo-Renaissance style by Thomas Arboe and William August Thulstrup was inaugurated in 1884. It quickly became too small for rapidly developing city. The third and current station building in 1927 by the Danish State Railway’s architect K.T. Seest.

Aarhus bus station is situated about 350 meters from the railway station.

The station has 4 platforms and eight tracks. Access to the platforms via stairs. The station is equipped with lifts and escalators. Platforms are covered.
