Aalborg train station

Aalborg train station is the main railway station serving the city of Aalborg. It is an important rail junction and rail hub which serves passenger trains between North Jutland and the rest of Denmark. Aalborg is connected with Copenhagen by InterCity and Lyn trains operated by DSB. Trains from Aalborg to Copenhagen stop at many main stations along Denmark, for example Aarhus, Kolding, Randers and Odensere. Regional trains from Aalborg to Skørping and Frederikshavn are operated by Nordjyske Jernbaner. In 2003 Aalborg commuter rail was launched.

Aalborg train station was inaugurated on 18 September 1869, along with the opening of the new railway line between Aalborg and Randers. The station building was designed by the Danish architect N.P.C. Holsøe. In 1879 the Limfjord railway bridge was opened and railway linked Aalborg with Hjørring and Frederikshavn. In 1899, the Aalborg – Hvalpsund railway line was opened. The first station building was demolished and the current station building designed by by the Danish architect Thomas Arboe was completed in 1902.

The station is located in the city centre, within walking distance from major tourist attractions.

The Aalborg bus station is situated next to the railway station.
