Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa – a passenger’s guide

Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa (Warsaw Commuter Railway, WKD) is a light rail commuter line in Poland’s capital city of Warsaw. The line, together with its two branches, links Warsaw with the municipalities of Michałowice, Pruszków, Brwinów, Podkowa Leśna, Milanówek and Grodzisk Mazowiecki to the south-west of Warsaw. The line is used by many commuters from the towns and villages around the line.

The length of the Warszawa Śródmieście WKD to Grodzisk Mazowiecki Radońska line is 32 km. Time travel between the stations is 54 minutes.

On the main line, trains operate every 15 minutes at peak hours and every 30 minutes off-peak, with a service gap between midnight and 05:00.

The best offers for tourists

Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa is not popular among tourists. Trains stop near Museum of Automotive and Technology in Otrębusy.

On Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa (WKD) trains between Warszawa Śródmieście WKD and Opacz, 24-hour and 3-day ZTM Warsaw network tickets that have been validated in advance are accepted.

Currently, ZTM single tickets — including the 20-minute ticket, the 75-minute transfer ticket for Zone I, and the 90-minute transfer ticket for Zones I and II — are not accepted on WKD trains.

Warszawska Kolej Dojazowa accepts Wspólny Bilet Samorządowy (Common Regional Ticket) – a 24-hour ticket valid on nearly all regional trains operated by seven Polish rail carriers.

Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa (WKD) trains look like trams. The vehicles are adapted for transporting passengers with disabilities. There are no toilets on the trains.
