Warszawa Wschodnia train station

Warszawa Wschodnia train station is one of the most important railway stations in Warsaw. It is translated as Warsaw East. It is located on the eastern side of the Vistula river, far from the city centre. It serves local, regional, long-distance and international trains. Many long-distance trains terminate at Warszawa Wschodnia station. The current station building was inaugurated in 1969 – it was modern and nice station. At the beginning of the 21st century, it was considered the worst railway station in Poland. The station building was renovated for the UEFA Euro 2012 championship.

The station has two entrances and two halls. The first one is a large hall for long-distance trains, the second one much smaller hall for suburban trains. In both of them there are ticket offices, toilets and bakery.

The area is generally unsafe, especially at night. I don’t like this railway station and surroundings despite its functionality.

The station is well-connected with the city centre by local trains (operated by SKM Warszawa or Koleje Mazowieckie). There are bus stops at both entrances to the station.

The station has seven platforms. Access via tunnel. Platforms are not accessible to disabled people. Platforms are partially covered and equipped with electronic displays.
