Sigulda is the gateway to the Gauja National Park and a popular destination for one-day train trip from Riga. Sigulda lies 53 kilometres from Riga, in the Vidzeme region. Sigulda has a population of more than 14 thousands people. The town has plenty of great activities, especially in winter. You can participate visit three castles, participate in workshops, and explore hiking trails in Gauja National Park.
Train from Riga to Sigulda is the best way to get to the city. Passenger trains between the cities run every hour. Journey time from main station in Riga to Sigulda is about 70 minutes – fastest train covers the distance in 48 minutes.
There are suburban trains to Siulda and long-distance trains from Riga to Valmiera and Valga. Trains are full or overcrowded in Riga area.
This route is operated by old RVR diesel multiple units. Some of them has no toilet on board. In the nearest future refurbished trains will appear on the route.
Train from Riga to Sigulda is operated by Vivi (former Pasažieru Vilciens).
