Oslo Central Station

Oslo Central Station is the main railway station in Oslo and the largest railway station in Norway. The station has two buildings – the original Oslo East historic building and the newer main building for Oslo Central Station and was officially opened opened by King Olav V on 30 May 1980. The Oslo Tunnel was put into a few months yearlier. The station has 19 tracks. It serves local, regional, long-distance and international trains.

The square in front of the station is called Jernbanetorget. Oslo Central Station plus Jernbanetorget is largest transport hub in Norway, served by buses, trams and subway.

Oslo Central Station is located in the city centre, close to the many tourist attractions.

There are direct trains from Oslo Central Station to Oslo Gardemoen Airport. Passengers can choose between expensive Flytoget and cheaper Vy trains. Vy trains are six minutes slower than Flytoget’s trains but are much cheaper.

There are escalators and lifts for tracks 13-19. There are wheelchair ramps and conveyor belts for tracks 1-12. The station is equipped with a mobile ramp for wheelchair users. This is operated by the conductor staff and provides accessibility to the trains if necessary. Certain platforms have step-free access to certain train types. There are guide lines in the station hall.

Platforms are covered. The station is clean and well-maintained.
