Omsk train station is one of the most beautiful railway stations in Russia. Омск-Пассажирский is also an important stop along the Trans-Siberian Railway. The station serves regional and long-distance trains. Omsk is a large city and is connected by train with many cities in Russia.
The first station building was opened in 1896. At the end of the 19th century, it was one of the largest on the West Siberian railway. In addition to the station, there were about 70 buildings, including the main workshops, warehouses and locomotive depot. An estate with 51 houses was built for railway workers. The station building was renovated in 1958-1959. In 1975–1978, the façade of the building underwent a major renovation. The reconstruction of the station took place in 2005-2006. The station area has increased by approximately 3,000 square meters. Another floor was added, the main tower appeared.
Long-distance trains passing through the station have a long stop here because of changing locomotive.
