Liberec train station is an important railway which serves the city of Liberec – capital of the Liberec region. Railway lines in Liberec region are non-electrified and passenger trains are operated by many operators – České dráhy, Arriva and Die Landerbahn (Trilex).
The railway station in Liberec was built in 1859 as part of the Pardubice–Liberec railway line. The neo-gothic station building was designed by Franz Riesemann. It was rebuilt and expanded in 1900, and underwent a major renovation between 2009 and 2011.
The station gives a good overall impression—it is clean and well-maintained, although it does have some disadvantages.
Railway lines:
Pardubice – Liberec
Liberec – Harrachov (- Szklarska Poręba)
Liberec – Černousy (- Zawidów)
Liberec – Česká Lípa
Liberec – Zittau
Liberec is a perfect starting point for day train trips around region and to Poland and Germany. Passengers can use one-day network passes: IDOL (for Liberec region) and Euro-Nysa Ticket (fot trips to Polish and German borderland).

Location
Liberec train station is located about one kilometer from the city center and main square. The walk to and from the center depends on individuals, as the city features significant elevation changes. It took me around 10–15 minutes to walk from the station to the beautiful town hall. In general, Liberec is not a particularly attractive city; the most interesting site is the North Bohemian Museum, which is best reached by tram. The cable car to the summit of Ještěd was under renovation at the time of writing.

Platforms
The station has five platforms. The platforms are covered. One platform is directly accessible from the station building, while the others are connected via an underground passage from the main hall. The stairs are fairly steep, but elevators have been installed. The station is wheelchair accessible.
In front of the station, there is a tram stop. The ride to the city center is short—just two stops. About 150 meters from the train station is the bus terminal. Public transport in Liberec is operated by Dopravní podnik měst Liberce a Jablonce nad Nisou (at the time of writing, the website was not working).
Additional Information
After dark, the station becomes unsafe. Suspicious individuals—drunkards, drug users, and various people harassing passengers and passersby—tend to hang around the station and nearby area.
