Al-Boraq train is a new category of Moroccan Railways trains. Currently, a double-decker TGV train runs from Tanger to Casablanca on the High-Speed Railway. The line was put into operation in November 2018 as the first high-speed rail line in Africa.
The 186-kilometer high-speed line line runs from Tangeer to Kenitra. Al-Boraq trains can reach a speed of 320 kilometers per hour. There are 13 viaducts on the route with a total length of 10 kilometers.
Al-Boraq trains from Tanger to Casablanca are comprised of TGV Duplex vehicles and the journey time is 2 hours and 10 minutes. Before the line was inaugurated, trains needed 4 hours 45 minutes to complete the route. Moroccan Railways has ordered 14 TGV Duplex trains. Construction of the extension of the high-speed railway line to Casablanca was commenced in 2020. The extended high-speed railway line will shorten the journey time to one and a half hours.
In the future high-speed railway line will be extended to Agadir.
There are first-class and second-class carriages and bar carriage.
First class facilities:

All carriages are air-conditioned and equipped with vacuum-toilets.
Tickets are checked before boarding the train, and access to the platform is possible 20 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train. Two minutes before the train departs, the platform is closed to passengers. Tickets can be purchased online, at ticket offices and ticket machines. Tickets for Al-Boraq train are about 30% more expensive than for regular trains. For passengers with first-class tickets, there are lounges at the stations in Tangier and Casablanca, where you can drink coffee, tea and hot chocolate for free.
