Baku - Tbilisi train - a passenger's guide (2026)

The Baku – Tbilisi train was reinstated on 26 May 2026. It’s an overnight train comprised with modern, air-conditioned carriages manufactured by Stadler. The comfortable carriages are equipped with showers and vacuum toilets. The train runs daily and it’s very popular among citizens of Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Currently, the train is available only for citizens of countries with free-visa entry to Azerbaijan but it may change in the nearest future.

The carriages have also designated places for wheelchairs users.

Baku (dep. 23:10) – Tbilisi (arr. 08:41)
Tbilisi (dep. 21:00) – Baku (arr. 06:24)

Ticket prices are quite expensive and depend on class of carriage. For example:

Baku – Tbilisi Komfort 81 AZN/41 EUR
Baku – Tbilisi Komfort+ 117 AZN/59 EUR
Baku – Tbilisi Lux 180 AZN/91 EUR

Azerbaijan Railways informed, that in the future the prices may be lower.

– Children up to 5 years old are free on the condition that they do not occupy a separate place,

– Children between 5-10 years old can travel with up to 50% discount depending on the travel class, purchase date and season.

– A free ticket intended for a child under 5 years should definitely be formalized.

– Traveling with a child is carried out on the basis of a passport with validity period. If a child travels with 1 parent, travels with another parent or another adult (without parent), each 2 parents should be presented with a notarized attorney separately.

Each passenger can take 1 piece of luggage free of charge, which weighs not more than 23 kg (in luxury class 30 kg). In addition, payment is not required for small handload.

The baby stroller that folds to items that can be taken for free is also included. Passengers who fully booked the Comfort+ coupe can also carry strollers in the open.
