The train from Budapest to Split is one of the seasonal trains transporting passengers to the Adriatic coast. Operated by Hungarian Railways (MÁV), this train is extremely popular primarily due to its comfortable travel experience and convenient arrival and departure times in both Split and Budapest. The train, named Adria, runs annually from mid-June to mid-September.
The most beautiful part of the route is traveled in the morning hours, allowing passengers to enjoy stunning views from the train windows between Perković and Split.
Train from Budapest to Split – running days
– The train will depart from Budapest between 19th June and 13th September 2025, 2-4 times a week.
– The first night train to Split from Budapest will depart on 19th June 2025 and from Split to Budapest on 20th June 2025.
– In June from Budapest on Thursdays and Saturdays, from Split on Fridays and Sundays.
– In July & August from Budapest on all even days (2nd, 4th, 6th…), from Split on all odd days (3rd, 5th, 7th…), except the 1st of each month.
– In September from Budapest on Thursdays and Saturdays and also on 2nd September, from Split on Fridays and Sundays and also on 3rd September 2025.
– The last train from Budapest will depart on 13th September and from Split on 14th September.

Train from Budapest to Split – train composition
The Adria train consists of modern sleeping and couchette cars owned by Hungarian Railways. These new or refurbished carriages are very comfortable and air-conditioned. In 2025, the train also includes seating cars with six-seat compartments, also air-conditioned. In case of technical issues, an open-plan coach may occasionally be used.
The train also includes a restaurant car.
Couchette cars have 4- or 6-person compartments.
Sleeping cars have 3-person compartments, which can be booked for one or two persons exclusively.

Ticket Prices for Adria Train
Tickets for the Budapest–Split train are not the cheapest, but a limited number of promotional fares is available. For the cheapest options, early booking is key. Seat reservations are mandatory, and the reservation is included in the price when tickets are bought via the Hungarian Railways online store or at the ticket office.

There are also more expensive options: Start Night Plus and Start Night Flex, which allow for ticket refunds. The above prices are the lowest possible, but actual prices vary dynamically and are often significantly higher.
Interrail/Eurail Pass Holders
Interrail and Eurail pass holders must purchase a seat reservation:

Additional Information
Dogs may be transported in seating compartments, but you must book the entire compartment. A €9 supplement is required for the dog.
Entire compartments can be booked for groups or families – total cost: €260. For groups of 5 or 6, this is quite economical.
Bicycles are not allowed on this train.
Onboard Services
Couchette ticket includes mineral water and a light breakfast in the morning.
Sleeping car ticket includes mineral water and a hot breakfast in the restaurant car.
Sleeping car passengers can use the Premium Lounge at Budapest Keleti station.
