Currently there are no passenger trains between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although trains between Belgrade and Podgorica pass through Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is a short strech without stops and border control. Direct train from Belgrade to Sarajevo was ceased many years ago. The train was comprised of Serbian and Bosnian carriages (both ŽRS and ŽFBiH) and passed through Croatia.

Jablanica ŽS – Štrpci ŽRS – Rača ŽS
The narrow-gauge railway “Šargan Eight” connects Serbian station of Mokra Gora with Višegrad in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Scheduled trains run from Mokra Gora to Šargan Vitasi within Serbia. Tracks were upgraded on the entire line and there are plans to launch regular trains from Mokra Gora to Višegrad but it needs an agreement about border control. Currently, the section Šargan Vitasi – Višegrad is available only for charter trains.

Železnice Srbije operates freight trains to Bijelina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bijelina is not connected with the rest of the railway network of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
There are direct trains from Belgrade to Zvornik station. Zvornik station is located in Serbia, not far from the Bosnian towns of Karakaj and Zvornik. A few kilometers before the terminus there is a branch from Nova Loznica to Tuzla. There were plans to launch direct trains from Belgrade to Sarajevo via Tuzla and Doboj, but eventually the iniciative failed.
