Wroclaw Glowny is the largest and main passenger train station in the city of Wrocław. It is a beautiful building and the largest railway station in the Lower Silesia Voivodeship. The station was built in 1855-1857. It was designed by the royal Prussian architect Wilhelm Grapow. In the late 19th century the station was extended. The station underwent major renovation in 2010-2012 for the Euro 2012 championships. It serves regional, long-distance and international trains operated by many carriers, for example Koleje Dolnośląskie, Polregio and PKP Intercity.
Wrocław is well-connected with the rest of the country. Long-distance trains are comfortable but often overcrowded. Regional trains are usually overcrowded, especially on rush hours and weekends.
Railway station Wroclaw Glowny is located in the city centre. Walk from the train station to the Main Market Square takes 10-15 minutes. The tram stop is right next to the train station. The bus station is located across the street (exit to Sucha Street).
The station has six parallel platforms (platforms I through IV with two tracks, platform V with one track and one short one, platform VI with one track). Each has two subway exits, which lead to the main hall. Access to the platforms via tunnel – there are conveyor belts, lifts and guided tracks. Platforms are covered.
