Yekaterinburg train station

Yekaterinburg train station (Yekaterinburg–Passazhirsky) a major transportation hub, located on the Trans-Siberian main line and Sverdlovsk Railway. Yekaterinburg is the fourth-largest city in Russia, the largest city in the Ural Federal District and of the biggest railway junctions in Russia. The main railway station in Yekaterinburg consists 4 buildings. The station Yekaterinburg–Passazhirsky was completely renewed d from 1997 to 2001. The station serves daily more than 60 long-distance trains more than 180 commuter trains.

The first station building was build in 1878 during construction of the railway line. Nice building was preserved and is located close to the current building.

The current station building was opened in 1914. In 1936-1939 the Yekaterinburg train station was reconstructed in the neoclassical style, a second floor was added, and a monumental colonnade appeared along the facade. In 1995, another building was added to the western wing of the station. The station was named “Sverdlovsk-Passenger” to 2009. The station was renovated in 2018 before football World Championship in Russia.

The station is located 1,5 – 2 km from the most popular tourist attractions.
