Wyoming is the least populous state in the USA. Currently, there are no passenger trains in Wyoming. Amtrak trains do not stop in the state of Wyoming. There are railway lines in the state, but are used only for freight transport.
There is a park railway in the Terry Bison Ranch. The ranch is located just 7 miles south of Cheyenne. The train ride takes about an hour or hour & a half. This includes about a 30 minute stop to feed the bisons.
The capital of the Wyoming – Cheyenne – is a railroad town. The first residents of the city were men who moved west to work on the transcontinental railroad. Cheyenne has a few tourist attractions related to railway. In the former depot is located visitor center, restaurant and Cheyenne Depot Museum with exhibits and interactive displays about railroad history.
In the southeast corner of Holliday Park in Cheyenne is displayed Big Boy – the world’s largest steam locomotive designed to pull a 3600-ton train.
The historic roundhouse, turnbable and machine shop are open for tours only once a year during Depot Days.
There are no tourist railways and scenic trains in Wyoming.
